Case Study — Julia Stellmann
Industry: Art and Culture
Project: Polishing English translations for Instagram
Client: Julia Stellmann
Language: English (UK)
Content: Instagram art and culture posts
Julia Stellmann is a passionate art historian, cultural manager and freelance writer based in Düsseldorf, Germany. She regularly updates her Instagram followers with descriptive posts and images from her visits to the latest art exhibitions in Germany and the Netherlands.
Issue:
Julia wanted to make her Instagram profile more professional and attractive by producing seamless English translations that draw a wider global audience.
Process:
As a talented writer herself, Julia translates her own Instagram posts from German into English. That’s where I come in: polishing her translations, checking for accuracy, providing helpful suggestions, and localising her translations for a global, English-speaking audience.
I check the translations against the original and as a standalone text, ensuring they match the visuals to be uploaded on Instagram. Together we create a post in English that doesn’t read like a translation.
Outcome:
This project started in January 2021 and has continued ever since. Julia’s creative posts are now ready for a global readership.

“Since the start of the year, I’ve wanted to make my Instagram profile accessible to a global audience, and I’m very grateful for Andrea's professional support. Her valuable corrections always hit the right tone and polish my texts to set them apart from other translations. People have told me multiple times already how great my posts and their English translations are. With Andrea’s help, I get to communicate my passion for art across language barriers and be recognised as a young art historian in the arts and culture scene. Thank you for our fruitful collaboration. I look forward to your continued input, which helps my own language skills as well.”
